APRIL 15: NAIOP-NJ TO PRESENT SEMINAR ON ENERGY MASTER PLAN
Program To Discuss Compliance Costs Vs. Energy Savings
EDISON, N.J.,  April 1, 2009 – Implementation of New Jersey’s Energy Master Plan (EMP) and its very ambitious goals will have major impacts on the commercial real estate industry: existing buildings and new construction. The real estate community had minimal input into the drafting process, yet new and existing buildings are the primary focus. On April 15, the New Jersey Chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, will present “New Jersey’s Energy Master Plan: Impact and Opportunity” at the New Jersey Carpenter Contractor Trust conference center in Edison. The event begins with a networking breakfast at 7:45 a.m. followed by the program at 8:30 a.m.
Ken Esser, Governor Corzine’s Chief Energy Advisor, and Steve Goldenberg of Fox Rothschild will share a detailed overview of the plan’s goals from the administration’s perspective and the industry’s perspective.
Implementation and compliance issues will be discussed by an expert panel including: Lance Miller, Board of Public Utilities Chief of Policy and Planning; Clint Andrews, Department Chair, Rutgers Center for Green Building; Stephen Finkelman, Director of Sustainable Services with CMX Engineering; and Patrick Connelly of Matrix, President of the Building Owners and Managers Association of NJ (BOMA). The panel will cover changing codes and standards, how existing buildings and new construction will be impacted, voluntary initiatives and sustainability practices that can dramatically lower your operating costs, incentive programs, and the realities and costs of compliance.  Jeffrey Grant of Mack-Cali Realty Corporation will moderate. An audience Q&A session will follow.
