FIRST-TIME TASTE OF MADISON PARTICIPANT TAKES A BIG BITE OUT OF THE COMPETITION

Fort Atkinson restaurant, Central Coast, wins 2009 Best Appetizer.

Central Coast Restaurant in Fort Atkinson can hold its head high amongst Madison area restaurants. The fine dining establishment won the 2009 Taste of Madison Best Traditional Appetizer with their Central Coast Crab Cakes served with corn relish and red pepper coulis. This is the first time the restaurant has competed at Taste of Madison, and if the winner’s list has any say in the matter, it won’t be their last.

On June 23, new Executive Chef, Jordan Reynolds brought a fresh new menu to Central Coast. It looks as though these changes have paid off, with Central Coast not only winning Best Appetizer, but also placing second in Best Home-Style Dessert for their Carrot Cake and Best Vegetarian with the Central Coast Chopped Salad.

“We really want to show the surrounding community what we have to offer,” said Executive Chef, Jordan Reynolds. “It is great to finally be recognized for all the hard work.”

Central Coast will be representing Fort Atkinson on the Square during the 2009 Taste of Madison on September 5th and 6th.

“We look forward to serving delicious food,” said Reynolds, “but this is only a small taste of what the Central Coast menu has to offer.”

Central Coast is a fine dining establishment that created to bring the owners, Larry and Sherry Starkweather’s, love of food and central coast wine to the Fort Atkinson area. The restaurant opened in December of 2007 and The Dance Club in September of 2008. The Dance Club includes a weekly schedule of dance lessons, monthly events, and live bands for members. An evening of dancing may be enjoyed by non-members with the purchase of dinner or a $15 per guest cover charge.
